How to override a Dimension in AutoCAD?

While at work, a situation may arise wherein the dimensions need to be different in styles from the parent style. Such sub-dimensional styles are primarily overridden files.  In order to  obtain an overridden file , you need to follow the steps mentioned below: 1. Choose the Annotate tab and click on the Dialog-box launcher arrow on the Dimension Panel. [This arrow appears at the right end of this Dimension Panel’s title bar.] 2. As the Dimension Style Manager opens, choose the particular style that you opt to override. Next, click on ‘Override’! 3. Next, Override Style Dialog Box opens. Make changes in the similar way that you’d do to create a new Dimension Style. 4. The overridden dimension appears in the Styles pane, beneath the parent style. P.S.:  Now, if you again wish to opt for the parent style, open the Dimension Style Manager and opt for the Parent Style. You should remember that this discards the previously Overridden file.

Why are CAD Conversion services important for the Power generation and distribution industry?

Power Generation and Distribution industry is the backbone of growth of all economies globally. Any flaw, however minor, in the cable-conduit plans; wiring; electrical control building; etc. can create a worse impact later on! Hence, it is mandatory to be cautious with the entire planning/mapping of process for the Power Industry. Hence, it is the need of the hour to implement Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) conversion services of the hard copies of all important documents pertaining to the Power Generation and Distribution industry. What are the benefits of implementing CAD services in the Power Sector? Isn’t it helpful if the hard copies of the documents that fade away with time are converted into apt CAD data formats? Importantly, the documents are editable by users, for innumerable numbers of time. ‘Editable’ documents are must for updating any renovations or alterations. The documents are very easily presentable. Again, they require minimal storage spaces which are gen

Do you possess old paper drawings and such other sketches fading over the years? There may be very important floor plans, architectural details of some project or a hand sketch of a proposed plan of a construction project that is in progress and shall be completed in the next 10 years! Architects, engineers and contractors will be at a huge loss — of time, finances and ideas if such documents are tampered with or are lost over the years! Converting such documents into binary Computer-Drafted data is the smart solution to such a scenario. Certainly, imbibing the latest advancements of technology and converting the papers into documents that would neither fade away, nor get tampered with or lost over time, is not only pragmatic but also essential! The old paper/manual drawings, referred to as Raster images (in any format like JPEG, PDF, TIFF, GIF etc) are converted into Vector formats (i.e. DGN, Adobe Illustrator, DXF, DWG, CorelDraw, Photoshop etc.) Pinnacle Infotech is a p

Auto CAD Tip: How to use the TRIM function for adjusting CAD dimensions in the best possible ways?

How often have you faced a scenario where you had to adjust the CAD dimensions at a very short notice? The best way to change the dimensions is by using TRIM or EXTEND commands. In order to trim, select and start the TRIM command first. Pick the line(s) that serves as the cutting edge. Next, choose the line(s) that crosses the selected cutting edge. Thus the edge selected gets trimmed. Trick: “TRIM ” selects every thing in a particular drawing as cutting edges. Thus, the above mentioned steps can be done away with. However, it is important to know when to use “TRIM ” and save time. In a similar way, you can activate and use the EXTEND command; but it is rarely used! Trick: Do you know that TRIM functions can be used to extend any line to the nearest intersecting object? TR Hold SHIFT button Merely Click on the edge of a line in order to extend it to an intersecting object. Deleting the present dimensions and choosing to reapply takes time. Using TRIM function is immense
